Floating Delivery Driver & Packshed Crew Member (Part-Time)
Schedule: Tuesday–Friday 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Salary Range: $18.50 - $22.00/hr (commensurate with experience)
PTO: 24 hours per year
Sick Leave: 30 hours per year
Personal Days: 1 day per year
CSA Share: One free medium veggie share per week
Note: if assigned a delivery route, the shift continues until the route is completed, which may be earlier or later than 1:30 p.m.
Position Overview
Moon Valley Farm is seeking a reliable, adaptable, and team-oriented Floating Delivery Driver & Packshed Crew member to support our growing CSA, wholesale, and institutional food distribution operations.
This position plays a critical role in the daily operations of our distribution and warehouse systems by supporting morning loading, providing backup delivery coverage, and assisting the packhouse team when delivery coverage is not needed.
The ideal candidate is dependable under pressure, comfortable working early mornings, and capable of shifting between transportation and packhouse responsibilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Distribution & Delivery Support
Assist with loading delivery vans and box trucks
Help ensure the timely departure of delivery routes
Provide immediate coverage for last-minute driver callouts
Complete CSA, wholesale, and institutional delivery routes as assigned
Safely operate delivery vans
Training for 5-ton trucks can be provided
Support additional or overflow routes during peak distribution days
Packhouse & Warehouse Support: When not assigned a delivery route, this position will:
Support the packhouse and warehouse teams
Stage inventory and orders for packing operations
Help maintain organization and cleanliness within the facility
Assist with packing and food distribution workflow
Support food safety and operational readiness throughout the workday
Qualifications
Required:
Valid driver’s license
Clean and insurable driving record
Ability to safely operate delivery vans
Ability to lift and move produce boxes and distribution materials safely
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong punctuality and reliability
Preferred:
Current DOT Physical / Medical Card
Previous delivery driving experience
Warehouse or packhouse experience
Experience working in food distribution or agricultural operations
Familiarity with food safety practices

Position Overview

Drivers operate refrigerated high-roof cargo vans and are trusted to work independently while maintaining high standards of professionalism, safety, and customer service. Advancement opportunities are available for qualified employees, including progression into larger delivery vehicles such as 5-ton box trucks serving institutional and wholesale customers.
Key Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently complete assigned delivery routes throughout the DMV region.
Load, organize, secure, transport, and unload products while maintaining product quality and food safety standards.
Deliver accurately to residential customers, apartment buildings, restaurants, chefs, schools, and other accounts using route sheets, invoices, and delivery instructions.
Obtain customer signatures and complete required delivery documentation for applicable accounts.
Represent Moon Valley Farm professionally in all interactions with customers and the public.
Communicate customer delivery updates, access instructions, and route-related information through approved company channels.
Maintain assigned vehicles in a clean and organized condition consistent with food safety and operational standards.
Submit receipts and all required route documentation at the end of each shift.
Follow all company policies related to safety, food handling, vehicle operation, and customer service.
Required Qualifications
Valid U.S. driver's license with a clean, insurable driving record.
Ability to meet and maintain Moon Valley Farm driver eligibility requirements.
Ability to work full-time, year-round, including early mornings and extended route days.
Ability to safely operate high-roof cargo vans and similar delivery vehicles.
Strong reliability, punctuality, and time-management skills.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
Ability to lift, carry, and unload products throughout the workday.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in delivery driving, route operations, logistics, warehousing, farm distribution, or food distribution.
Familiarity with delivery routes and road networks throughout the DMV region.
Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card) & Experience operating box trucks.

Position Overview
Moon Valley Farm is seeking an experienced warehouse and operations manager to lead our new Montgomery County aggregation facility — the most significant infrastructure expansion in our organization's history. This is first and foremost a warehouse management role: you will be responsible for the daily operations of a ~10,000 sq. ft. perishable goods facility, managing staff, inventory, cold storage, receiving, order assembly, and outbound fulfillment in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
Equally important is a genuine connection to our mission. The ideal candidate brings proven warehouse leadership and a passion for local food systems — understanding that the infrastructure they manage directly supports regional farmers, institutional food access, and a more equitable food system in and around Montgomery County, MD.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse & Facility Operations (Primary Focus)
Own daily warehouse operations: staff scheduling, workflow management, receiving, cold storage, order assembly, and outbound fulfillment
Manage and develop a warehouse team including two Pack Employees; maintain accountability, efficiency, and a strong team culture
Oversee real-time inventory tracking in Local Food Marketplace (LFM) across all stages of product flow
Manage cold storage infrastructure (two refrigerated rooms, one freezer), forklift operations, and equipment maintenance
Ensure full compliance with FSMA, GAP/GHP, PACA, and DOT regulations; maintain third-party audit readiness at all times
Develop and implement SOPs for all facility functions; lead operational readiness for facility launch and ongoing continuous improvement
Facility Build-Out & Launch
Support facility planning and contractor coordination during the build-out phase, working closely with Emma Jagoz and the facilities team
Coordinate with food safety and HACCP plan reviewer on compliance documentation
Assist with onboarding of warehouse team members as staffing scales up
Farmer Relations & Institutional Fulfillment
Serve as on-site point of contact for farm partner deliveries; support new partner onboarding and quality standards communication
Ensure accurate, timely fulfillment for institutional buyers including MCPS, Manna Food Center, Capital Area Food Bank, and Community FarmShare
Maintain quality control across produce, proteins, dairy, eggs, and shelf-stable goods
Grant Compliance & Reporting
Track and document operational data for grant performance reporting: volumes, farm sources, buyer distribution, and food safety records
Support monthly and annual reporting to the Montgomery County Office of Food Systems Resilience
Maintain records demonstrating grant-compliant use of facility, staff time, and expenditures across the four-year program
Required Qualifications
3+ years of warehouse, distribution center, or food hub operations management experience — this is the core requirement for this role
Demonstrated experience managing warehouse teams and workflows in a perishable goods environment
Strong working knowledge of food safety compliance: FSMA, GAP/GHP, cold chain management
Proficiency with inventory or order management platforms; valid driver's license
Ability to work early morning hours consistent with produce distribution schedules
Genuine commitment to MVF's mission of supporting local farmers and building an equitable food system
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in farm-to-institution supply chains, food hubs, or school food procurement
Familiarity with PACA compliance and DOT fleet regulations
GAP certification or food safety manager certification (ServSafe, PCQI, or equivalent)
Bilingual English/Spanish
Experience supporting government grant compliance and performance reporting
Forklift operator certification or demonstrated forklift experience
