Job Overview
Moon Valley Farm is seeking Farmworker Laborers to perform a wide range of agricultural tasks involved in the production of diverse fruit and vegetable crops. This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires physical stamina and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Field Work: Prune, plant, cultivate, irrigate, fertilize, harvest, and sort crops.
Soil & Crop Management: Till soil, transplant, weed, mulch, apply/remove row covers, thin, and prune crops.
Harvesting: Harvest vegetables carefully to avoid damage; wash, sort, grade, package, and label produce according to size, shape, and maturity.
Infrastructure: Construct trellises, repair fences and farm buildings, and participate in irrigation activities.
Inventory & Orders: Manage inventory of stored produce, track daily farm tasks/supplies, assist with customer orders (CSA boxes), and assist at farmers markets.
General: Maintain a clean work environment and follow all safety/pesticide re-entry regulations.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 3 months (or 480 hours) of verifiable prior experience.
Physical: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to crouch, bend, sit on the ground, and work outdoors in dusty, dirty, hot, or cold conditions.
Tools: Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives (tools provided by employer).
Drug/Alcohol Policy: No work under the influence. Possession of illegal drugs is prohibited.
Schedule
Standard Hours: 40 hours/week anticipated.
Shifts: Typically 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Crews: Rotational schedules (Mon-Fri, Sun-Thu, or Sat-Wed) to ensure 7-day coverage.
Flexibility: Start/end times may shift based on weather and crop needs.
Benefits & Compensation
Bonus: $250 bonus for employees completing at least 256 hours in an 8-week period.
Sick Leave: Accrual of 4 hours paid sick leave per 2-week pay period.
Collaborative Working Group: Paid time for participation in monthly working group meetings to address safety and operational issues.

Delivery Driver
Position: Tuesday-Friday, 6am - route finished; $18.50-$22/hr, commensurate with experience and DOT medical clearance (DOT clearance not required but a perk). Full and part time hours available.

Position Details: Looking for clean driving records, someone who has great attention to detail, is reliable and consistent and can represent our farm business well to customers! Vehicles are Ford Econoline style vans (sprinter style) with refrigeration units. Deliveries are directly to customers' homes (single family, apartments and condos), small businesses, restaurants, schools and other institutions. Drivers load their trucks first thing in the morning. All routes leave from the farm in Woodsboro, Maryland, and our delivery range includes Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, Baltimore, Frederick, Annapolis, Montgomery County and the overall surrounding DMV area.
